– Steven Millhauser, “The Sepia Postcard” in The Barnum Museum. As I read this passage, the rain at my window suddenly became louder and heavier, and died away seconds after I finished reading it. It was a little spooky, but lovely. I adore the sound of rain at my window.

I’m going to Prague tomorrow until Tuesday and am only taking hand luggage. For a split second I considered sacrificing the book I packed to make everything fit. Then I removed an item of clothing instead. No regrets.
